Since the publication of Carolina Clay, Leonard Todd has spoken on David Drake, his pottery, and his poems at many cultural venues, including the Smithsonian Institution, the Atlanta History Center, and The Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts (MESDA). He traveled to England to lecture at Harris Manchester College, one of the constituent colleges of the University of Oxford.

He has been a radio guest on "NPR's Weekend Edition," "To the Best of Our Knowledge," and "The African-American Literary Review."
